Carigean terms

Carigean (kar-i-je-an) An original word created by the artist to define multi-cultural individuals who like herself orginate from the Caribbean & Aegean Islands.

Figurative art describes artwork - particularly paintings and sculptures - which are clearly derived from real object sources, and are therefore by definition representational. The term "figurative art" is often taken to mean art which represents the human figure, or even an animal figure, and, though this is often the case, it is not necessarily so:

Abstract art is now generally understood to mean art that does not depict objects in the natural world, but instead uses colour and form in a non-representational way.

Surrealism is a cultural movement that began in the early-1920s, and is best known for the visual artworks and writings of the group members. The works feature the element of surprise, unexpected juxtapositions and non sequitur.

Photomontage is the process (and result) of making a composite photograph by cutting and joining a number of other photographs. The composite picture was sometimes photographed so that the final image is converted back into a seamless photographic print. The same method is accomplished today using image-editing software.

Mixed media, in visual art, refers to an artwork in the making of which more than one medium has been employed.

Giclée (zhee-clay), is an invented name for the process of making fine art prints from a digital source using ink-jet printing.

Photo quality printing is the ultra high resolution reproduction of digital artwork onto printable materials such as paper, vinyl, film, polyester, etc.
